Audi prepares to enter new niches, to boost its sales

According to the latest reports, it appears that Audi is preparing to enter new niches in order to boost its sales.

First of all, Audi is going to launch the new A7 four-door coupe to compete with the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS and the Porsche Panamera. Then, the all-new Audi Q3 small crossover is going into production next year in Europe (the concept version will be unveiled in Paris), but the bad news is that this new car won’t come to the United States until 2013.

Furthermore, Audi is considering a small electric car based on the next-generation A2. Regarding the A2, this new car is still under consideration but if it will be approved, Audi will bring only an electric version to the United States, according to Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi AG board member for sales and marketing. The German manufacturer is also planning to redesign its entire lineup.

The A3 is set to receive a new version in 2012, while its bigger brother, the A4, will be freshened in 2013. The A5 will also be updated in 2012, while the redesigned A6 will go on sale in 2011 using the underpinnings of the new A7. The TT Coupe and Cabriolet will receive a redesign in 2014, while the RS version of the popular coupe will go on sale in the United States in the third quarter of 2011. Regarding its crossover lineup, Audi will update the Q7 in 2013, while for the smaller Q5 is preparing a hybrid version which will debut in 2011. [via autonews - sub. required]
