2012 Hyundai Azera (Grandeur) First Look
The affordable large car segment is starting to get just a little overcrowded, and in a time where customers all around the world are downsizing to smaller, mid-size models, performance, fuel-economy and overall value is now more important than ever.
South Korea’s entrants in this field have been winning plenty of accolades lately, especially cars like the Hyundai Genesis and the recently revealed Kia Optima, and now Hyundai looks set to continue this trend with a replacement for its aging Azera sedan, designed to meet the Germans on their own ground with a dramatic new look and packed with technology and features inside.
Positioned between the Sonata and the Genesis, the 2012 Hyundai Azera is expected to come onto the market next summer and feature the automaker’s latest take on the `fluidic sculpture’ design philosophy. The new video shows a very stylish sedan, with the best elements of the Sonata and even some influences from Hyundai’s Equus flagship featuring in the design for the new Azera.
The car is expected to be launched with two different V-6 engines: a 3.8-liter Lambda unit with 305 horsepower on tap and a smaller 3.3-liter mill already sold overseas. Hyundai’s new six-speed automatic transmission with pseudo manual mode will likely be standard across the range.
2012 Hyundai Azera concept
2012 Hyundai Azera mid-size sedan will take his place among the 2011 Hyundai Sonata Redesigned and Hyundai Genesis. This time we have information about the engine options for KDM version, which will continue to use the label of Grandeur.
In South Korea, 2012 Hyundai Azera will be offered a choice between two suction motor, as a direct injection. The 2012 Hyundai Azera base model is powered by the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol GDI is located on the Hyundai Sonata and Redesigned 2011 Kia Optima, while the flagship version will be motivated by a 3.0-liter V6 produces 270HP GDI and 31.6 kg / m maximum.

The company’s official brochure states that the four-cylinder 2012 Hyundai Azera model gave an average consumption of 12.8 mpg (equivalent to 30.1 mpg U.S. lt/100km and 7.8), while the V6, 11.6 km / l (27 , 3 mpg U.S. or 8.6 lt/100km).
Hyundai has no comments or announcements about the possibility of driving to the North American version of the 2012 Hyundai Azera, but probably 2012 Hyundai Azera will only be offered with the V6. Recently, South Korean automaker said that Azerbaijan would be its North American debut in New York Auto Show in April next year.

Hyundai Azera 2012 initial sketches released
The Hyundai Azera, a competent full-size front-wheel-drive sedan that fits in between the Genesis and the Sonata, is going in for a full redesign, and it’s going to be good.
Initial sketches of the all-new 2012 Azera, known as the Grandeur in Korea, have been released and it looks be following a design trend that is a mix of cues from the Sonata and the Centennial.
Expect the new model to debut in early 2011.
Peugeot going for bold with new 208

Scooped by Auto Plus, our sister magazine in France, the Ford Fiesta rival gets a dramatic look which takes some of its inspiration from the RC Hybrid concept, revealed at the Paris Motor Show last September.
As you can see from Auto Plus’s spy shot and our main illustration, the 207 replacement features a more prominent nose with a huge badge, enormous headlights and bold air intakes.
The car is the work of new Peugeot chief designer Jean-Pierre Ploue, who has joined from fellow PSA firm Citroen, and replaces Jerome Galix. His job is to differentiate the two marques – and the radical 208 certainly does that.
At the rear, the restyle continues with large tail-lights and a sporty lower bumper, which incorporates twin diffusers. The new car will debut a host of super-efficient turbocharged petrol and diesel powerplants, and is set to be fitted with a start-stop system that switches off the engine in stationary traffic to save fuel and cut emissions.
Three and five-door cars will be available, although buyers will have to be patient – as the 208 isn’t due here until 2012.

PEUGEOT 208
Details for the 208 are not available, although a short teaser video released today describes a "sophisticated, relevant and radically new" car with sleek styling and top-shelf materials in the cabin. The usual marketing buzz words, but likely also a hint for a more up-market take on the brand's volume seller.
Key styling features should include sharp headlights, squared off where they meet the brand's new family grille design.
Watch this space for more news as the 208 makes its online debut later this week.
New Peugeot 208 (2012) to be revealed next week
It’s reported that the long awaited replacement for the 207 – the new Peugeot 208 – will be revealed next week. Goes on sale after Geneva debut in 2012.
The Peugeot 207 has been around for a long time, and has never quite hit the highs in sales Peugeot hoped. But the replacement for the 207 – the new Peugeot 208 – is just round the corner, and Peugeot has high hopes the new 208 will be a big hit.
We’re expecting the Peugeot 208 to make its production ready public debut at the Geneva Motor Show in the Spring of 2012, but La Tribune are reporting this morning that Peugeot are planning to reveal the 208 on 2nd November. The new Peugeot 208 will be produced in equal measure at Peugeot factories in France and Slovakia, with Peugeot targeting sales of 500,000 cars a year – 30 per cent of those in France. There are also plans to extend production to Brazil and China and to add a saloon version of the 208 for those markets.
The 208 will have a lower entry price point than the current 207. It will also be a shorter but have more cabin space and lighter too, which should help economy.
Expected to launch with three-pot petrol engines starting from 68bhp and with emissions of 99g/km, there will also be a 90bhp e-diesel with emissions as low as 87g/km.
Gone will be the big gob nose so familiar on Peugeots for so long, to be replaced with a nose which follows the family theme on the new 508.
The wish list – at least for hot hatch fans – is that Peugeot see fit to bring a spiritual successor to the 205 GTI in the 208, perhaps with the 1.6 litre turbo lump we know can deliver 200bhp. Even if we do get the 208 GTI, we will still see a much tamer 208 GT to mop up sales from younger drivers who want butch looks but couldn’t stretch to the insurance on a 208 GTI.
Peugeot are not having an easy time at the moment, and are busy rationalising their production plants and, it’s reported, looking to shed up to 10 per cent of their workforce.
Hopefully the new 208 will help Peugeot recover sales.
We hope so. We rather like modern Peugeots.
Peugeot 208 variant details and overview before Geneva Motor Show 2012
It was way back in 1983 that Peugeot launched 205 and since then the company has noticed that their hatchbacks are among the top five best selling cars in France. Since 205 was launched in 1998 followed by 206 which did equally well and is seen today as 206+. In 2006, Peugeot launched 207 and is now in the process of bringing out 208 model which was recently revealed.
208 will be both five door and three door versions and will be ready for the auto markets in 2012. Peugeot said that 208 will be a totally new car both where its interiors and exteriors were concerned. It will be totally independent from the 207 model. 208 will not only be shorter than 207 but will weigh considerably less.
Statistics say that 208 would be at least three inches shorter and 242 pounds lighter than 207. However, it does offer more room in passenger sections as well as luggage space in the boot. 208 will be on display at Geneva Motor Show 2012 when pricing and information of its engines would be available.
Ambitious new Peugeot 208

- Peugeot says 25 per cent of the plastics are either recycled or sourced from natural materials for the new 208.
We’re big fans of the ‘floating’ front grille, ‘boomerang’ rear lights and visible ‘spine’ that runs up the bonnet and over the roof. The athletic body and sculpted profile complete the look and helps to pull the marque into the future.
The interior is a hoot too. There’s a chunky, smaller steering wheel while the instrument panel has been completely redesigned to be more intuitive and clear. And the large touch screen is a nice, umm, touch.
There’s a new range of three-cylinder petrol engines - a 1.0- and 1.2-litre VTi - delivering roughly 3.5 litres-per-100km. If that isn’t green enough, start-stop technology will also be made available.
