  • Peugeot says 25 per cent of the plastics are either recycled or sourced from natural materials for the new 208.
Available in two distinct body styles – a three and five-door, the 208 is a true generation leap. Building on the success of icons such as the 205, 206 and 207, the new model is not only compact and sporty looking but also boasts more passenger room and boot space too.
We’re big fans of the ‘floating’ front grille, ‘boomerang’ rear lights and visible ‘spine’ that runs up the bonnet and over the roof. The athletic body and sculpted profile complete the look and helps to pull the marque into the future.
The interior is a hoot too. There’s a chunky, smaller steering wheel while the instrument panel has been completely redesigned to be more intuitive and clear. And the large touch screen is a nice, umm, touch.
There’s a new range of three-cylinder petrol engines - a 1.0- and 1.2-litre VTi - delivering roughly 3.5 litres-per-100km. If that isn’t green enough, start-stop technology will also be made available.
